Notes From Our CEO: When Your Product Surprises You

Product, Kiksasa Ecosystem

Sometimes a product can surprise you and "overachieve."

In this case, I'm writing about Kiksasa's latest product, Kiksasa Ecosystem.

One of the key features of Ecosystem is that we aggregate publicly available calendars of events and centralize them into a single module on an Ecosystem page. We recently scanned a large-ish ecosystem of around 1300+ organizations, many of which have events.

A couple of days ago, we loaded 800 events over a 90-day window for ~250 of those organizations.

The list, day, and month views handled it just fine.

The week view... well, you can see what it did in the image above. Technically, it didn't "break down"β€”it did exactly what it was designed to do. But its overachieving did less than stellar things to the module's usability.

Whoops. 😳

We may have to rethink the weekly view.

FYI - Breaking part of your app because you were too successful at finding critical data is fun. Yes, we have a fix already in place.

Side note: If the ratio of organizations to events stays consistent among the 1300+ organizations in that particular Ecosystem, the final tally for events over a 90-day window will likely be ~4000.

4000 events. One calendar to find them all. And that's just one Ecosystem. 😎

Have a great week all,

Kelly
